SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- The National Weather Service says a weak tornado was responsible for some minor damage in southwest Missouri over the weekend.
Meteorologist Mike Griffin says investigators determined on Sunday that an EF0 tornado touched down southwest of Willard Saturday night. It knocked down trees, tore shingles and siding off roofs and ruined a deck. EF0 is the weakest possible tornado, with winds of about 80 mph. No major damage was reported.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the weather service plans to investigate further on Monday to determine if weak tornadoes also touched down near Halltown and an area near Miller. There were no reports of major damage in those areas.
Damage to a greenhouse and barn near Republic was attributed to straight-line winds.
