Many energy-related companies have their sights set high for the foreseeable future. Oil prices are high, and the shale boom is still going strong. However, Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies Inc. has what some may consider to be astonishing growth targets.

Mark Hall, the president of Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies Inc.?s Americas office, recently told me that the company plans to grow its revenue and its worldwide presence by 10 times in the next five years.

Considering Kongsberg Oil & Gas? Americas division, which is based in Houston, is the company?s largest entity, Hall is expecting a lot of local growth.

Hall recently sat down with me for a ?Face to Face? feature in the Houston Business Journal, and I got to learn more about Kongsberg?s growth prospects during the interview.

First, Hall explained that Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies is part of the major Norwegian technology firm Kongsberg Gruppen, so it has the backing of a strong organization that also has military and marine divisions.

?Our main focus is primarily real-time solutions (technology) for drilling and production operations as well as training simulators,? Hall said of the oil and gas group, and added that the company excels at dealing with big data sets taken from drilling and production systems.

Although Kongsberg isn?t as familiar in the U.S. as Halliburton Co. (NYSE: HAL) or Baker Hughes Inc. (NYSE: BHI), it is part of Hall?s mission to make Kongsberg just as big of an oilfield technology player as the majors. The company already works with majors such as BP Plc. (NYSE: BP) and Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX).
